Partnership with Holyoke Community College

We are proud to announce a partnership with Holyoke Community College (HCC) to rehome six retired laboratory beagles at the end of the spring and fall semesters. HCC offers two programs in Veterinary & Animal Science: a two-year, full-time program that results in an Associate of Applied Science degree with a Veterinary Technician option and aone-year, part-time Veterinary Assistant Certificate program.

Each semester, the college houses six retired research beagles for the program, which helps support the students’ education and training. Beginning in May, twice per year, HLBR will find loving, forever homes for these beagles so they can live a HAPPY LIFE! We are proud to support HCC, their veterinary science program, and these beagles who have played an important part in the education of future veterinary professionals.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of both veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants is projected to grow 9 percent from 2024 to 2034, much faster than the average for all occupations.
